91P Artillery Mechanic

Company Name:
National Guard
### Job Description
Since the Army National Guard relies on an array of electrical systems and components for targeting, aiming, and firing artillery weapons, we need experts to perform the necessary work on our field artillery units.
It''s the Artillery Mechanic who keeps these weapons operating properly. As such, you will learn how to maintain these systems; troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions; and repair, test, and adjust damaged equipment.
Being a great mechanic these days requires a diversified education that covers more than just lug nuts and grease. It requires a basic foundation in the workings of the internal combustion engine and vehicle electrical systems. In addition to conventional construction-related trades, the skills you learn as an Artillery Mechanic will help prepare you for a future as an electronic mechanic, an avionics technician, or a missile facility system mechanic with civilian firms that design, build, and test weapons for the military.
Earn while you learn
Get paid to learn! In the Army National Guard, you will learn valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance.
Job training for an Artillery Mechanic consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you''ll learn basic Soldiering skills, and nine weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field.
